Bora Uzer on Flower Power, Music as Connection, and Why Pacha Feels Like Home

Bora Uzer at Pacha
We met Bora Uzer in the heart of Pacha Ibiza, where the Flower Power residency transforms the club into a kaleidoscope of sound, color, and energy. Just moments before stepping on stage, Bora welcomed us with his signature warmth - grounded, calm, and radiating the same joy he brings to the dancefloor. In conversation, he opened up about his journey, his inspirations, and the unique atmosphere that makes Pacha feel like home. With his mix of artistry and presence, Bora reminds us that music is not just performance, it’s connection, creation, a shared experience that lives in the moment.
ILR: Bora, let’s start at the beginning. When did your journey into music begin?
Bora Uzer: I started making music when I was 16. I saw this guitar player and thought, “oh, that’s interesting.” I fell in love with the guitar and ended up receiving a scholarship to the Rotterdam Conservatorium. That’s how my music career began.
ILR: From guitar to electronic music is quite a journey. How did your path evolve?
Bora Uzer: I’ve had many different chapters. First, I studied jazz and soul. Then I was part of an incredible band called Ken Groove for 12 years. After that came my solo career, and in 2018 I really began exploring electronic music. It was a natural progression — performing, making people happy, feeling at home on stage.
ILR: What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Bora Uzer: Every journey is unique. Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself. So my advice is: be true to yourself. Don’t worry about distortion or noise out there. Focus on what makes your heart go, and just do it.

ILR: 2025, what have been your highlights so far?
Bora Uzer: So many! Tomorrowland was amazing, but playing at Pacha will always feel like coming back home. I’m grateful to the owners for giving me this platform, surrounded by legends. At the end of the day, the real highlight is always the people, their energy, their freedom, the open-mindedness they bring.
ILR: You mentioned “the people” several times. Why are they so central to you?
Bora Uzer: Because I used to think it was all about me. Now I know better, it’s all about the others. I travel for the people, I play for the people. That’s where the magic is.
ILR: Flower Power at Pacha is a very special residency. What’s the vibe like for you, and how do you feel being part of it?
Bora Uzer: Flower Power is unique, it’s not just a party, it’s an atmosphere, a whole universe of freedom, colors, and open-minded people. Everyone comes with such positive energy, ready to celebrate life together. For me, it feels like coming back home every time I step onto that stage.
I’m deeply grateful to the Pacha family for trusting me with this residency and giving me the space to express myself among so many incredible artists and legends. It’s a blessing to be part of something with such history and such soul. Every night is different, but the feeling is always the same: connection, freedom, happiness.
ILR: Let’s talk Flower Power. What’s next?
Bora Uzer: I don’t think much about the future. I’ve never been there, so it’s not my worry. I focus on the moment. If I feel good and strong, the moment becomes rich, and that makes the future bright. So as long as we feel good, Flower Power will be great.
ILR: We have to ask, any secret talent off-stage?
Bora Uzer: (laughs) I’m a really good chef. Cooking is another form of making people happy. It’s just like music: you bring ingredients together, combine flavors, and create joy. I love that I can do it every day, starting with my family. And, you know, I try to be a good friend.
ILR: Festivals or clubs, solo or back-to-back, improvisation or planned sets, where do you stand?
Bora Uzer: Festivals always have my heart - the open air, the energy, the freedom, it just feels right. When it comes to performing, I live for improvisation. Planning has its place, but the magic happens in the moment. As for playing solo or back-to-back, I love both, each has its own energy. I’d definitely love to do a back-to-back with Solomun one day; that would be something special.
ILR: Is there a stage you haven’t played yet?
Bora Uzer: Japan. I haven’t performed there yet, but every Japanese person I meet is so full of happiness and energy. I feel like we’d really connect.
After wrapping the interview, Bora slipped into the booth at Pacha where Flower Power was already in full swing. What followed was a night that captured his trademark approach, weaving improvisation into every set, interacting with the crowd, and staying fully in the moment. His set was a masterclass in flow - equal parts improvisation, instinct, and direct connection with the crowd. The way he layered textures and shifted gears mid-moment showed why audiences gravitate to his performances: it’s never just a playlist, it’s a dialogue. And while he jokes about his “spaghetti cables” backstage, on the floor everything was seamless. Once again, Bora proved that his ability to fuse personal style with the energy of the room is what makes his Flower Power residency unforgettable, and this Flower Power session was no exception.
